Upper Spunk Lake Martin Roost in Avon, MN

Located by Larry Leonard and visited in 2006 by Larry, Tony and Hauns. This was an incredible event and was observed 2 years in a row. In 2008 the roost looked to have moved to Big Swan Lake. You can read all about this exciting find and view the pictures on the MNMartin forum here.

Here you see a photo from a boat near the small island in the center of this lake that the martins have chosen for their pre-migratory roost.

We are getting ready to plan a trip to the martin roost this fall. We hope to have info posted on the MNMartin website in the calendar section soon! Update: The main roost has moved over 20 miles to the NW to Big Swan lake near Long Prairie.
